Ahoy, Club X! It’s been about a month since my last missive, so I thought I’d touch base and give you an update on your Club! The other Board Members and I have been feverishly working to get things moving forward quickly, and I’m pretty proud of where we are right now. We’ve got a long list of things we want to accomplish, and we’re chipping away at the list. As the saying goes: “How do you eat an elephant? … One bite at a time.” To bring you up to speed, let’s review the “this year” goals I shared with you:

  1. New Venues for Workshops and Play Parties
  2. Increased Community Interaction
  3. Comprehensive Technology Update
  4. Better Financial Solvency
  5. Increased Communication and Transparency

So… where do we stand with each of these? Well, one month is a short amount of time to make many of these changes, but the elephant is slightly smaller.

1) New Venues for Workshops and Parties.

As I said in my last letter, we will continue to seek new and larger venues that will allow us to accommodate workshops with minimal restriction, and party venues that let us do ALL the things. I’ve personally been working with a few different venues to find a new workshop space, but a sustainable monthly availability has been challenging so far. Party venues are incredibly hard to secure in San Diego, but that hasn’t stopped us from contacting some new places. As you might expect, we are often met with raised eyebrows when we share our play party rules, but we’ve gotten a couple of promising responses so far, and we will continue to seek more. The hunt continues. If you see a place that you feel might meet our needs for a rental venue, don’t hesitate to let one of the Board Members know!

2) Increased Community Interaction

I was pretty happy with the turnout that Club X provided at the recent San Diego Leather Pride weekend, and even more excited to see how many of our members attended Leather H.E.A.T. April 1-3 in Los Angeles. Getting out to local and regional events like those is a great way to meet new people, learn their stories, share skills, broaden your horizons, and occasionally engage in some really hot play. Additionally, if you haven’t seen some of the title contests, you’re missing out. I challenge each of you to find one regional event this year that appeals to your budget and schedule, and attend. While you’re there, attend the contest events. The “Mr/Ms ____ Leather” events are consistently lots of fun, as are the “Person of Leather”, “Power Exchange”, “Master/slave”, “Bootblack” and other title contests. Speaking of which, did you know that the California Drummer contest is coming soon? It’s a “Kink” title, not a Leather title, so if “Leather” isn’t your thing, go check this one out! Watch the contestants, and realize that it could be YOU up there receiving a bitchin’ new sash and back patch. These contests are typically geared towards identifying kinksters and Leatherfolk who are making their mark, helping their community, educating the newcomers, and getting shit done. These are the people who are meant to represent our city/region/etc at events, and provide an accessible public face for what-it-is-that-we-do. I look around our Club and I see many of you who do this day in and day out. Based on my experiences at a few of the recent contests I’ve attended, I am certain that some of you would be wearing title patches right now if you’d had someone nudge you to submit a contestant package. I’ll be nudging more.

3) Comprehensive Technology Update

We’re making great strides with a new hosting platform and a software suite called Tendenci. We will continue to add content to this site and are doing our best to get all the bugs worked out before going live, so please be patient. Our Technology Officer (KnotOut) has a timeline in place to get this product online by May. We’ll begin beta testing with the Board next week, and while we’re still in development, are there any features that are specifically important to you? Do you have a suggestion for ways to make this new site a functional and usable portal for your Club X info and scheduling? Contact KnotOut at ClubXsd.Technology@gmail.com.

4) Better Financial Solvency.

As promised by yours truly, rates ARE going up. In less than a month. April 30th, 2016 will be your absolute last chance to purchase your membership at existing rates. If you’re looking to renew or buy a new membership, now’s the time! Click here or check the website (www.ClubXsd.org) for more details.

5) Increased Communication and Transparency:

A big part of this will come (I hope) with the updates to the website and other info-distribution upgrades. We will begin pushing out monthly newsletters again this month, and I have every intention of continuing these near-monthly update letters to you. Our recent Play Party survey gave the BoD some great feedback, and we’ll be implementing a few of your suggestions at the next party! If there’s something you think we could be doing better to get the word out, please let me know!

We’ve got great education events planned for you this month, including Wolfgang’s “Reading your Bottom” Xhibition workshop, RalphKramden’s “Vagina Tricks” Xpose, Interrogation with Naria at the Women’s Rap, and some Wax Play with Grrrgeous in North County for BDSM basiX. If you’ve got a specific workshop or topic you’d like to see more of, send it to me at ClubXsd.President@gmail.com!

I hope this message finds you happy, healthy, and very, very kinky.

~Spanks!~
