October is in full swing, and the Halloween preparations seem to get wilder by the day. I see more costumes and candy being created and set aside everywhere I go, and as long as I don't see Buttons' face in the mirror when I brush my teeth, I can continue looking forward to a fun holiday.
I had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the Behind Closed Doors conference in Tucson Arizona this past weekend, and got to see some of you there, as well. In fact, I even caught up with a former President of the Club who now lives in Arizona. He was very happy to discuss the change and growth he's seen in our Club over the past 4 years, and is hoping to visit sometime soon. Aside from all the incredible workshops, vendors, and play parties that make these conferences such a fun weekend, it's the social interactions that really keep me coming back. If you have the financial resources and haven't yet attended a kink conference, I strongly suggest you give it some consideration, We have an amazingly diverse community, and meeting people at other Cons allows us to further increase and strengthen our community bonds as we come together to celebrate that which makes us all incredibly unique while also realizing that many of the buttons we push for each other are exactly the same. This thing that we do is a unifying force, and although I love when I can bring a taste of that back to San Diego, experiencing it first hand is something I feel each of us should try to do at least once. The next conference in our region is also one of the largest, and my favorite of the year. Southwest Leather Conference is going to be held in Phoenix from January 19-22, and culminates in the Dance of Souls on Sunday afternoon. This is a ritual that you won't want to miss. Take a look at the event post, talk to some of your friends who are going, and then decide if/when you want to register. The conference includes the Southwest Bootblack and Southwest Master/slave title competitions as well. If you identify with those labels, consider applying as a contestant! The Fet group for the conference even includes posts for ride/room shares, if you want to save a few bucks.
Closer to home, we've got exciting news in the works for you regarding our website, workshop events, and play parties. Your membership card is now in digital form, and we are going to be implementing a very simple scan-in process at all of our events. Go to www.clubXsd.org and login. Once you're logged in, click on "my profile", and you'll see the "membership card" option. That page gives you all of your important info at a glance while still maintaining your privacy. Visible are the obvious QR code to scan at our check-in desk, your scene name, Xpoint balance, expiration date, and membership ID number. We are additionally working towards putting the Club's liability waivers into your profile, so that as an annual member, you will only need to sign the liability release every six months. The Technology Officer, KnottMatt, will be putting out more information about upcoming feature additions to our website, and I don't want to steal his thunder... stay tuned for more about our electronic member benefits and improvements!
Besides all of our regular Club X workshops and socials, we've got a great themed and costumable play party coming up on Saturday Oct 29th. Our "Queerin' Tarantino" party is guaranteed to be a fun one. Even if you just chose costume and scene ideas based on Pulp Fiction, we'd have a wild time. However, when you throw in possibilities like Death Proof, Kill Bill, Dusk Till Dawn, or Natural Born Killers, my brain just starts whirring with excitement about what lies in store. Of course, like all of our parties, costumes aren't required. Dress as sexy as you'd like, or just be naked once you're in the door. Whatever makes you feel like having a good time. If you don't have your tickets yet, be sure to see a board member at any of our events, or register online right now.
If you ever have questions or concerns for the Board, we'd love to hear from you. You can contact us via our Fet profile, website, or by emailing info@clubXsd.org.
Stay Kinky, San Diego!
