Ahoy there, Club X! It’s been a bit since I had a chance to sit down and write, but I wanted to take a moment to catch you up on all the things, or at least all the things I think you’ll want to read about. {wink}

First things first… HAPPY PRIDE! Many of you attended our July 9th Pre-Pride Play Party, and I have to tell you I’m STILL riding the endorphin high from it. You sexy people were amazing to be with at that party, and looking around the room showed me the incredibly diverse state of our Club. I saw people of almost every sexual preference, gender expression, and cultural heritage playing together, socializing, and doing amazing things. The connections, inclusiveness, energy, and HAPPINESS in the air were palpable, and they made me proud to be the President of our Club. Thank you.

June might have brought the dreaded San Diego Gloom, but we managed to ward off most of it with some great workshops and socials, including Mummification, “Why?”, Negotiations, and our Xtreme FIRE classes and play party. Special highlights included Simon Blaise, who brought some great fire wisdom with him from LA, and Victory_at_C, who got us thinking about the intent and meaning behind that-what-it-is-that-we-do. If you missed it, you missed out.

Speaking of missing, we’re all going to miss Grrrgeous as the host of basiX, Tiara at the Women’s Rap, and SirKnottyDan as our Shibari 101 presenter. They’ve educated literally hundreds of new kinksters over the last year, and we’ll miss their presence at those events as they move into new and exciting challenges. Don’t fret; although Tiara is moving out of state, the others aren’t going TOO far. Grrr has taken over as the host for our monthly Women’s Rap, and Dan will still be running All Tied Up. In their place, I’d like to introduce–or more appropriately REintroduce–you to a couple of folks who are stepping up. SirBito is returning to lead the Shibari 101 class that he started for us, and our Technology Officer KnotOut has volunteered to coordinate and manage the monthly basiX series. There will be some format changes with our new hosts onboard, and I invite you all to come and support these gentlemen in their efforts to provide Safe Sane and Consensual BDSM Education to San Diego County.

In other news, our Technology refresh hit a couple of snags and KnotOut had to begin from scratch in his efforts to build a web portal for our membership system and events handling. Our existing systems are untouched and continue to work as they always have, but since this Tech update is on my personal list of promises for the Club, I wanted to let you know what’s been going on. KnotOut will be providing a more detailed update to the Membership soon, but the bottom line is that this is a FAR more involved project than I initially imagined, and he is dedicated to providing a quality, flexible, and sustainable product.

We’ve got lots of great events coming up in July and August, and I hope you will choose to maximize your membership by attending as many of them as possible, including our workshops, socials, and the August 20th Members Only party. Tickets for that will go on sale at Coffee on August 5th, and will probably sell out VERY fast. Check our website, Facebook page, or Fetlife account for details, and start planning your summer now!

San Diego’s Pride Parade will kick off at University and Normal at 11am Saturday July 16th, and many of you will either be watching or marching. Be safe out there, remain friendly in the crowds, wear sunscreen, and HYDRATE!

After the parade, get yourself inside the festival grounds, and join Club X and all the other kink-related Clubs and Organizations at LEATHER REALM. If you’re unfamiliar with it, you don’t want to miss this once-a-year event. Imagine our monthly Club X “Xplore”, combined with Xhibition, Xpose, and basiX. In public. With thousands of people. It’s INCREDIBLE, and consistently one of my favorite events of the year. It’s definitely worth the price of a Pride admission ticket, and I hope I’ll see you there!

Have a great PRIDE month, and Stay Kinky!

~Duke
